@Mathew777 : ... and others ! This is the first time I've read on a perfume blog that we hated 'Encre Noire' by Lalique !?? For me, as for many perfume lovers, this fragrance is a masterpiece ! Known only to enlightened connoisseurs, 'Encre Noire' is perhaps THE ultimate earthy vetiver. Certainly a very original perfume, 'Encre Noire' is one of the essentials to have in your collection. In addition to not being known to most, it is perhaps the best quality/price ratio that I know... You can find a 100 ml bottle (this heavy cubic bottle is sublime with its packaging of superb quality !) for just over 20 euros !!! Amazing ! And in my opinion, the 'flankers' are also worth the detour; the 'A l'extrême' version is magnificent; the vetiver is softened by intense incense. The 'Sport' version is really reminiscent of the original with an added touch of freshness which surely makes it more 'accessible' for those who don't appreciate the power of vetiver in the original. I have not tested the latest version, 'Encre Indigo', because according to the few reviews I have read, it really differs from the original and seems more commercial or the feminine version which has nothing to do with the masculine one. I think that Mathew777 may not have liked the monolithism of the dry and earthy vetiver of 'Encre Noire' magnified by the smoky and resinous cypress... It's certain, to appreciate it, you have to like raw vetiver and dark, especially since all the ingredients making up this eau de parfum are of very good quality and this is reflected in its longevity and its power. To conclude, 'Encre Noire' is for me a real commercial enigma in the field of perfumes ; impossible to find in perfumeries, only available on the internet, of rare quality and originality, enclosed in a sublime Lalique quality bottle, beautifully packaged and always of high quality, all this for a ridiculous price !
